Cat NAPS of Pottstown, Inc. has been organized primarily to do Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return (TNVR) work in the Greater Pottstown area in order to reduce the feral feline population and help prevent the spread of certain viruses:  Rabies, Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia.  We use medically-licensed, qualified veterinarians to spay/neuter/vaccinate these felines.  FOR EVERY KITTEN BORN, ONE IN A KILL OR OPEN-ADMISSION SHELTER MUST DIE. . . . ONE WHO ALREADY KNOWS THE HUMAN TOUCH, PURRS & CUDDLES WITH SHELTER PERSONNEL.  We also work with the general public in the Greater Pottstown area to provide low or no cost spay/neuter/vaccination services for their personal or pet felines through qualified, medically-licensed veterinarians.  Felines that are spayed and neutered do not usually present their owners with behavior problems and in turn, their owners are less likely to abandon them.

When friendly stray felines are trapped, we offer them for adoption once their vet work is completed.  These felines are fostered and provided with food, water, shelter and follow-up vaccinations, deworming, grooming and when necessary, medications.  More often than not, kittens are involved in this work, and we take in those kittens, providing appropriate care for them until they are adopted.  This often involves treating ill kittens and taking care of neonates (bottle babies.)  Likewise, when we have foster space available and are contacted about friendly stray cats and/or kittens, we will assume responsibility for them and offer them for adoption.
